December 8, 1992 saw the first test broadcasts of the now legendary rock radio Tangra. Full on broadcasting began a few days later, on December 12 at 96.7 FM, Sofia.

Ten and a half years later, on April 1, 2003, the original Tangra was transformed into a sports station by its new owners. The latter died a slow death, but rock'n'roll radio was resurrected once again on April 4, 2006 with the launch of Tangra Mega Rock - a new online/satellite/mobile radio with some key individuals from the original Tangra crew.

Since then, things have been on the up.

"I'm happy you guys did this, you're the last warriors left standing. It's brilliant that you brought the station back to life again," said one of the original Tangra founders, Kiril Marichkov in a recent interview for the Jitball show.

"The closing down of the original Tangra is a painful subject for me to discuss. We bought too many new nationwide frequencies and it proved to be our undoing, we were doing fine in Sofia and could afford to be independent, but with the new partners things took a turn for the worse. That's why I'm so glad you've brought the beast back to life."

The rest, as they say, is history....

Most of the key figures from the original rock radio Tangra now comprise the TMR crew - Vassil Varbanov, Moni Panchev, Nasso Ruskov, Koko Stoynov and we have the continued support of Ilyana Boycheva of course.

More recent additions to the Tangra family are our longtime mates Alexander "Chico" Boyadjiev, Stefan "Stiff" Yordanov and the brilliant Andrey Vladov and Martin Donchev who honed their fine skills at the BBC World Service in London.

So, erm, cheers!
