The continuation of the story about The Black Circus full of scary things during the night performances is in the center of the content of Manticora’s new conceptual album. Opposed to the first disc of the saga, “Letters” (2006), this time the lyrics are not presented as letters written by a stranger about his experiences under the big dome of the circus, but as darker and more interesting stories about the characters who steal people’s souls, and places where the black magic spreads its tools on them. It is worth noting the persistence in these Dutch’s music in creating the artwork of these conceptual albums - they are in the same range of color, full of pictures connected with the stories they tell. In a way the music in “Disclosure” is niftier than its predecessor, and although the production is not quite good this time, the drums are better prepared here, and there are more varied songs, which create a suitable atmosphere towards to the whole concept. The “real” songs are only six, but they are long and complicated enough to please the listener. Interesting is that the keyboard solos in some of the tracks are performed by musicians from other metal bands: Finn Zierler (Beyond Twilight) plays in “Haita Di Lupi”, Andreas Lindahl (Wuthering Heights, ex-Platitude) - in “Gypsies Dance, Pt. 2” and “All That Remain”, and Ronni Clasen helps in “Beauty Will Fade” (maybe the best song on the record). The guests do not stop showing in this CD - with some growls in “Intuneric VII” we hear Jacob Hansen (Invocator, Anubis Gate) and Teddy Möller (Loch Vostok, Wuthering Heights). This help does matter, because it adds freshness and complexity to the music. The genre of the band is power metal in general, but in this album there are progressive links, too, which show clearly in the long compositions checkered with solos and tangled instrumentals. As a whole, “The Black Circus Part 2 - Disclosure” is a good continuation of the story started with the previous record, and it definitely awakens the hopes that it will not end...
