PIXIES bin bassist after UK tour
03 December 2013Bassist Kim Shattuck has been dismissed by the PIXIES just four months after being confirmed as replacement for Kim Deal.
Muffs member Shattuck has admitted she’s “super disappointed” at the move, which comes after the band completed a UK tour as part of a bigger world trek.
She says via Facebook:
“Super disappointed to learn that my time with the Pixies ended today. Amazing experience. Looking forward to focusing my attention back on the Muffs and our upcoming new album. All the best to everyone.”
Co-founder Deal confirmed she’d left the band in June after 27 years, with a management comment suggesting she’d “just had enough” and didn’t want to get involved in the promotion cycle of releasing new music.
Weeks later the Pixies released Bagboy, their first original work since 2004′s Bam Thwok. It was followed by a four-track EP in September.
The band haven’t yet commented on Shattuck’s departure. They’ll return to the UK for London’s Field Day festival in June.
