As time goes by, we’re starting to have more and more sonic testimony as to why John Frusciante left the Chili Peppers. The guy is a geeky weirdo, he likes his music shaken, not stirred. He can’t (please don’t) do anything about it. In his latest adventure, our hero has teamed up once again with commander in weird Omar Rodríguez-López, from you know where, to form Kimono Kult.

According to Neurotic Yell Records:

(Its) initiates include current and ex- members of Mars Volta, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bosnian Rainbows, Swahili Blonde, Le Butcherettes, Dante Vs. Zombies, and Raw Geronimo – all who are adamant that this is not some “all-star” vanity project. In fact, one cannot even SEE Kimono Kult – one can only HEAR Kimono Kult.

Alright.

Their debut EP, Hiding In The Light, “are four songs of electro/dub/afro-beat/avant-freak/jazz-like conversations of instrumental ecstasy,” available March 4th.

The full line-up of Kimono Kult is:

Omar Rodriguez-Lopez – guitar, synths, strings
Teri Gender Bender – vocals, guitar
John Frusciante – guitar
Nicole Turley – bass, drum machine, trumpets, synths, backing vocals
Dante White-Aliano – guitar, synths
Laena Geronimo – violin, bass, trumpets
