Remember May of 2015? Just a couple months into the most painfully protracted election cycle ever? Faith No More's Sol Invictus was easily among the most anticipated albums of the year. It was the Bay Area legends' first full-length since 1997's cheekily titled Album of the Year (you didn't ask and weren't wondering, but Dylan's Time Out of Mind took home the real-life honor), and a predictably unpredictable bricolage of disparate influences / attacks that somehow bore little resemblance to its equally insane predecessors. Not bad for a band in its mid-30s, right?

Today, FNM return with — somewhat incredibly — just the second video off their big comeback, the Goce Cvetanovski-shot "Cone of Shame." The director was clearly up to the challenge of complementing the track's jarring shift from morose spaghetti western introspection to more familiar, intense alt-metal. According to founding bassist Billy Gould: “This is one of those tracks that had to be a video, really, because it lends itself so much to visual imagery. Given the song’s sense of Americana, it would have been easy to shoot this in Arizona or New Mexico, but having been to Macedonia several times, there’s a vibe there that I felt wouldn’t be out of place as a backdrop to this song. Goce Cvetanovski, as a director, understood this immediately; he knew exactly what to do with it, and along with an amazing cast, has managed to create something very dark, and beautifully cinematic.”
