SLAYER's GARY HOLT Leaves Tour, MACHINE HEAD's PHIL DEMMEL Fills In

SLAYER's GARY HOLT is leaving the European leg of the band's farewell tour to be with his ill father.
"My father is very near the end of his journey," he wrote. "I've been playing these last several shows with the heaviest of hearts. And with that heavy heart I have to announce I am leaving the Slayer European tour. I must return home to help care for my dad in his final moments."
Phil Demmel, who just recently played his final show with MACHINE HEAD, has been named as Holt's fill-in for the remainder of the tour. He will make his live debut with the band today, Dec. 3 in Denmark.
