Deep Purple wereВ chosen in at the last minute to replace Oasis for two shows in Europe.

The British hard rock legendsВ headlined the Rock-am-See festival in Germany, and the Milano Urban Festival in Italy. Given that these were supposed to be Oasis shows, the supportВ bands, The Kooks, The Hives and Kasabian, were a bit odd, say our colleaguesВ from the British magazine 'ClassicВ Rock'.

They also mention that Purple apparently survived the Oasis crowd, although they would probably never write a song calledВ 'Highway Supersonic Star'. Much like the Gallagaher brothers, the feuding between present and past Purple stalwarts Gillan and Blackmore shows no sign of abating.
