JOHN LENNON memorial bas-relief unveiled in Sofia
08 December 2010'Lennon's Wall' is the back of the ex- Notary building, in central Sofia and has, for a few decades been a landmark in Bulgarian rock culture.
In the years of Communist oppression, the capital's free spirits and rebels would go there at night and write poems and various messages on the wall, mostly dedicated to John Lennon.
In the last years of the regime, things improved and on December 8, 1989 hundreds of people gathered there to sing Beatle songs.
With the advent of the 21st century the wall was somewhat forgotten, but today, 30 years after Lennon's tragic death, at noon, local musician Vasko the Patch placed a bas-relief of Lennon, done by artist Petyo Marinov.
